Scientists are figuring out how cancer works, but compelling evidence suggests that eating certain foods can increase your risk of getting cancer.

Sugar is a natural ingredient that has been part of our diet for many years. Sugars are carbohydrates that provide energy for the body.

In some form, Sugar is present in almost everything we eat, and our bodies rely heavily on it to work. Cancer cells usually proliferate and multiply at a rapidly fast rate with the need of energy which comes mostly from sugars or glucose.

This is precisely where the myth that sugar fuels cancer was originated. If cancer cells need much glucose, then eliminating sugar out of our diet must help stop cancer cell’s growth, and maybe even prevent its occurrence in the first place.

There is a lot of conflicting evidence about sugar and cancer, especially on the internet. Sugar and cancer have a complicated relationship, but there is indeed an indirect link between sugars causing disease. If we overeat sugar, it can cause weight gain, and being obese increases our risk of getting cancer. However, there is not very strong evidence that sugar causes cancer to spread.
